Family Planning 101

To help meet the need for training that does not require travel and can be accessed at the participant’s convenience, the Region I Title X Family Planning Training Center is now providing links to current online self-study courses on reproductive health topics. We search the Internet for online courses on subjects of interest to Region I Title X staff, review them and post the links to courses that meet our assessment criteria, including accuracy, currency, relevance to family planning, user friendliness,
and production by a credible expert source.

On this page, we provide the links to two courses that offer an introduction
to family planning.

Course Content: The content and emphases of the two courses posted are different but complementary. The first course listed focuses mainly on the Title X law, guidelines and regulations and what these mean for how family planning services are delivered. The second course listed provides basic information on reproductive anatomy and physiology, birth control methods, STDs, HIV, and legal issues—fundamental information that new staff need for their work with family planning clients.

Target Audience: These courses are most appropriate for new Title X staff as part of their orientation to the family planning field in general, and to Title X services in particular.

Disclaimer: These online courses are found on webpages outside of www.famplan.org. Links to these courses are provided solely as a resource to our users. HIV 101

To help meet the need for training that does not require travel and can be accessed at the participant’s convenience, the Region I Title X Family Planning Training Center is providing a new service. We will search the Internet for online courses on topics of interest to Region I Title X staff, review them and post the links to courses that meet our assessment criteria, including accuracy, currency, relevance to family planning, user friendliness, and production by a credible expert source.

As our first venture into this area, we have chosen two courses to link to,
both covering "HIV 101".

Course Content: Both courses provide good basic information about what HIV and AIDS are, HIV and AIDS prevalence, risk factors, transmission, prevention and testing. Both courses are designed for an audience of reproductive health care and family planning providers, and are intended to help them incorporate a focus on HIV and AIDS into their services. An overview of each course and its link are provided below. You may wish to skim through them to see which you prefer.
