As always, we have included the month of September's article highlights below. You can simply open the attachments or follow the provided link. Also, please remember to check out the announcements, meetings and other calendar reminders at the end of this e-mail.

Clinical Advisory Committee - CAC

Chatwani, AJ et al. Rapid testing for vaginal yeast detection: a prospective study. American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (April 2007).
The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of rapid vaginal yeast detection assay compared with yeast cultures for the diagnosis of vulvovaginal candidiasis.

Male Advisory Committee - MAC

Kalmuss, D. et al. Patterns of Mens Use of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services. Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, 2007, 39(2):7481.
This article concludes that men who have sex with women are not receiving adequate levels of sexual and reproductive health care, and the care they receive is neither comprehensive nor integrated. Standards of clinical care need to be defined and communicated to men and providers.

Application for Preceptor Training
The Clinical Training Center for Family Planning (CTCFP) preceptor training prepares Title X preceptors to provide individualized transitional role support for less experienced and new family planning practitioners. Preceptors will help ensure that direct care practitioners apply the most current knowledge and skills necessary for the effective delivery of high quality family planning services. The preceptorship experience aims to provide both practitioners with increased confidence, skill improvement, and employment satisfaction. Training dates are being scheduled for 2008 and will include trainings in multiple Title X regions.

The Family Planning Male Training Center (FPMTC)and your Regional Training Centers are interested to get your opinions for existing training needs within male family planning services and programs. This data will be used to plan and provide the most beneficial training opportunities possible for all Title X family planning agencies.
