Greetings Title X Grantee Agencies,
Welcome to the June RTC monthly Listserv.
We have some very exciting new tools to offer you this month! First
and foremost, we have recently added two new features to the www.famplan.org
website. Our very first online course, HIV 101 is now up and running.
The RTC has also posted a secure webpage on our site explaing the
ins and out of creating policies and procedures for the Title X Priorities.
Many thanks to all of you for sending in your current policies and
procedures. We hope your examples are useful to your colleagues at
other grantee agencies.
As always, we have also included the month of June's
article highlights which can be found below. You can simply follow
the URL link (or see attachment) after the article summary to read
more about a particular issue. Also, please remember to check out
the announcements, meetings and other calendar reminders at the end
of this e-mail.
We know that you are all very busy providing much needed
services to your clients and staff. This is why we hope the Listserv
will serve as a resource to keep you up-to-date on the latest public
health information.
The Listserv e-mail will arrive in your in box on the
last Tuesday of every month.
Thank you for your wonderful support of the RTC. It
is such a pleasure to work with you all.
Warm Regards,
The JSI RTC Team

To access these links, go the www.famplan.org
and click on “Online Courses” under the “Resources”

June 2006 Articles
HIV Integration Project (HIV)
This month marks the 25th anniversary of the the first
published report about what was once a 'strange new disease', we now
recognize as AIDS. HIV and AIDS have claimed the lives of more than
22 million persons worldwide, including more than 500,000 people in
the U.S. The Kaiser Family Foundation has created an HIV/AIDS Policy
Fact Sheet about HIV testing in the U.S.

Clinical Advisory Committee (CAC)
This study presents strong evidence that consistent
and correct condom use does greatly decrease a woman's chance of contracting
HPV through intercourse. The study followed 82 female subjects between
December 2000 and June 2005. Subjects chronicled their sexual behavior
at least once every two weeks and had a gynecological exam every four
months.

Calendar of Events
(Disclaimer) Calendar events listed are the most up-to-date information
the RTC currently has recorded. All meetings, training dates, conferences,
etc. may be subject to change.
We are excited to announce the first statewide conference
in Massachusetts on HIV in Immigrant and Refugee Communities of Color,
titled: "2006 Bringing It Home" scheduled for September
13th and 14th, 2006. It will be held at UMass Boston. The goal of
the conference is to mobilize providers and consumers to develop tools
and strategies to eliminate HIV disparities, promote access to culturally
appropriate care and reduce stigma and taboo associated with HIV.
Overall, the conference purpose is to initiate community advocacy
in response to these issues.
The Conference Planning Committee is accepting submissions
for abstracts and applications from individuals who are interested
in facilitating a large group discussion on the second day. Both documents
are on the website. Deadlines are soon!
